For example, “MDM account: YES” means the phone was set up for a school or a company and can be controlled, wiped or restricted remotely.
codat isn’t just a website: it pulls its data from several separate sources. If one provider doesn’t respond, we always have an answer ready for you.
We see who originally sold the device and, based on the data, our advanced algorithms estimate whether it will get locked in the future.
You get a recommendation score, we estimate its market value and we offer live advice: you can send us photos of the phone to find out whether the parts are original.
We use your IMEI and email to run the check and send you the report. Payment is processed through the bank's authorized payment portal, so your card details never reach our servers.
Based on the data we find, we can estimate with 90% accuracy whether your device is a copy or the original.
Find out if the original seller tends to lock phones after the sale, through Find My, MDM, blacklist or Knox.
We compare the model, configuration and market of origin. If something does not match, we warn you before you pay.

The phone is not reported stolen and has no MDM, but it shows up on a blacklist. Ask the seller about it before you pay.

We recently started working with codat.ro and the experience has been very positive so far. Their services are excellent, the pricing is competitive, and the team is highly professional. One of the biggest advantages for us is the live support they offer to business partners. Whenever we need help or have a question, they respond quickly and clearly, which makes the collaboration much easier.

I'm from the UK and dodged a proper scam with an iPhone that had an iCloud bypass on it, sorted thanks to this website. Can't recommend it enough! Quid well spent, saved me a few hundred quid in the process.

On iPhone: Settings → General → About, then scroll to IMEI and press and hold to copy it. On Android: Settings → About phone → Status or IMEI information. If you cannot open Settings, dial *#06# in the Phone app; if the device will not turn on, check the SIM tray or the label on its box. An IMEI has 15 digits.
Yes. Ask for the IMEI before meeting, not just a screenshot, and check it so you know what to ask and test. When you have the phone in hand, compare the IMEI in the report with the one shown by *#06#. If the seller refuses to provide it, treat that as a warning sign.
Yes. An activation lock, theft report, network issue or unpaid installment may not be visible at first glance and can surface after you reset the phone or use another SIM. The report complements an in-person test; check the battery, screen, cameras and proof of ownership separately.
A “clean” result only says that one check did not return a problem. Codat brings the available results for that phone into an explained report: what is fine, what to ask the seller and what to test before paying. Not every check exists for every brand, model or package.
Do not pay until you understand the issue. Ask the seller for an explanation and proof of ownership; if it is an account or management lock, confirm that it is resolved with the seller present. The report helps you understand the risk, but it cannot remove a lock.
Compare the IMEI in the report with *#06#, the box and the invoice, if available. Then check the model, the functions that matter to you, the battery, screen and cameras, and whether the seller can show that the phone was properly removed from their account. The report and physical test complement each other.
